Overview:

Kier Group is a leading construction, services and property group specialising in building and civil engineering, support services, public and private house building, property development and the Private Finance Initiative (PFI).

Our ability to deliver a zero waste to landfill service was an essential requirement made by the Client who were targeted with achieving a BREEAM excellent level.

Consultation

Wastecycle have a long standing business relationship with Kier and proposed that this high profile project aim for zero waste to landfill. Our key account manager provided a proposal offering sustainable waste management in tandem with our value added services:

•    Next day online reporting for Site Waste Management Plans
•    High recycle rates with residual waste processed to supply a refuse derived fuel.
•    Reduced carbon emissions through increased segregation on site and improved container utilisation.

Improvements made

•    314 tonnes of waste treated and diverted from landfill via recycling, re-use and energy recovery techniques employed at Wastecycle’s material recycling facility (MRF).

•    Toolbox talks on segregation of waste on site – signage supplied

•    A 13% saving on the overall project waste costs

•    Throughout the partnership, Wastecycle supplied online reporting which was key in maintenance and completion of a Site Waste Management Plan.

•    Guaranteed 24hr turnaround for delivery/exchange service
 

•    On-site segregation of wood, inert, plasterboard and metal
